About
Charles Destinon / Mixed Media Artist—Sculptor Painter
Acrylic paint on Fiberglass Resin Sculpture (Polystyrene form, light weight)
As an artist I want my work to become part of the space in which it lives, public or private. I want people to feel my work’s visual vibration and explore it’s painted topography. I have a profound crush on Architecture and Interior Design, I am in love with spaces and how my work interacts with it. My art feels like sculpted vertical segments of painted geology.
An unexpected juxtaposition of 3 dimensional painting not just hung on a wall, but a seemingly structural, part of the wall itself—I don’t want to hold hands, I want my work to seduce the space.
I am inspired by the Art and Architecture movement of the 60’s, Mark Rothko’s color as expressed human emotion, Frank Auerbach’s thick sculptural paint use, Monet’s exquisite color and light, Great Lake Michigan’s Waves and the Rolling Hills of Wisconsin Kettle Moraine region.
